Mount Holyoke has decided to extend its no-guest policy in residential halls through the end of the fall semester. On Oct. 6, the Office of Residential Life sent an email to all residential students providing an update to their guest policy. In the email, a guest is defined as anyone who does not live on campus.

Originally, the no-guest policy was set to expire on Oct. 8 with the caveat that it would be reexamined closer to this date. This extension was “based on analysis of COVID-19 cases on campus and a review of residential guest policies at area colleges,” according to the email.

This decision does not yet include Family and Friends Weekend, set to take place on Oct. 23, as the College is working to create a “safe solution as we get closer to the event,” the email read.

“The health and safety of all students is of the utmost importance to us. We know this may be disappointing news for some of you and will be reassuring to others,” Residential Life said. “We will continue to evaluate our health and safety measures on an ongoing basis, and will update students if and when we are able to make changes.”
