On Tuesday, April 7, the Mount Holyoke College community received an update from President of the College Sonya Stephens briefing community members on the College’s financial situation. “Over this time period, we have focused on our emergency response and continuity of operations,” Stephens wrote.

Board of Trustees announces tuition increase after annual retreat

According to an email sent to members of the College community on March 30 by President of the College Sonya Stephens, the Mount Holyoke College Board of Trustees met in New York from Feb. 27-29 for their annual retreat. The Board discussed tenure and retirement of professors, voted on the awarding of degrees on March 6, 2020 for 68 seniors and appointed new Trustees.

Evidence from the Mount Holyoke Climate Justice Coalition suggests that after briefly divesting from companies that did business with apartheid South Africa in 1991 as the result of student activism, Mount Holyoke may have subsequently and discretely reinvested.
